WELCOME TO THIRD GRADE:
If you haven’t already heard, third grade is much different than second grade. Your student will need to be organized and responsible for many things. I will help them do this in the classroom but I need you to follow through as well at home. The more independent your student becomes, the happier everyone will be.
The biggest change is NO BLUE SHEET. This year each student will be responsible for recording homework and test information in their agenda. I will be diligently working to make this an easy transition. Homework assignments will be recorded in the agenda and are due the following morning. Homework is very important at ACA. Students that do not turn in homework will miss a Special that day to get it done. Tests will usually have a study guide that the student will fill out in class. It is the student’s responsibility to correct their work as we go over it in class so they can be sure of the correct answers for the test.
SPELLING--We will be using SpellingCity.com in our classroom. This is a free site and ALL the Spelling Lists for the entire year can be found there (search for Adventure Christian Academy—Teacher: Diane T) This is the BJU Lists. My students love using Spelling City because it is a FUN way to learn. I will be sending home a list for the week on Mondays. If you need another one you can find it here. Spelling is to be done in cursive (if possible). Tests will be on Thursdays.
BIBLE—Students will have Bible memory work each week. Recitation will be every Friday morning. Practice saying the verse in the car on the way to school and learn our verses with us.
MATH—We will be learning our multiplication facts this year. We will have timed drills at school so grab some flash cards and get started at home. There will be Math homework.
READING—Assignments are to be read one time silently and then one time aloud to an adult. Sometimes there will be questions to be answered on notebook paper.
LIBRARY BOOKS—Students will be checking out a library book and can bring them home BUT please send them back everyday. They will be used during lunch and in the classroom.
SIGNATURE—The person that listened to the Bible verse and the reading should be the person to sign the agenda, daily. We will communicate in the agenda as well. I will let you know if papers did not make it back to school and you can feel free to let me know of other issues that arise.
I think I covered everything but I’m sure you will still have questions. I can answer questions in the agenda or you can email me at firstname.lastname@example.org I can usually answer emails first thing in the morning or after school.
THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP!!! I LOOK FORWARD TO AN AMAZING YEAR!!!
WHO IS YOUR TEACHER?
Hello! My name is Mrs. Treen and I am so excited to be your teacher this year. Let me tell you a little about myself. I earned my teaching degree from Asbury College in Wilmore, Kentucky and I have been teaching school for over 35 years. I have taught 1st grade, 2nd grade, 3rd grade and 5th grade. I have taught in public school, home school, and Christian school. This will be my 9th year teaching at ACA.
I have been married for 39 years to my wonderful husband, Bobby, who puts up with me and owns and manages Old South Stained Glass & Antique Mall in Eustis.
We are both native Floridians and we have 3 grown children.
The most important thing about me is that Jesus lives in my heart.
When I was 7 years old He became my Savior and I was baptized when I was 19.
I love to share how Jesus has led me and how He continues to work in my life.
I want you to experience that, too.
This is just a little bit about me and I look forward to learning all about you as we work
and play together in the coming school year.
